Welcome to LifePoint! LifePoint is a new, different kind of church in the greater Harrisburg area. We offer an alternative to what you may have experienced at other churches in the past. LifePoint is a casual, accepting, safe place for people who are looking for answers to their spiritual questions, and want to check out faith without anyone pressuring them. It's a place where those who have decided to follow Jesus Christ can learn and be encouraged in their faith. Regardless of where you are on your spiritual journey, you are welcome to come as you are.

A Message from Pastor Glenn

About Us

If you were to interview a cross section of our community, you would find people who have all kinds of spiritual perspectives. Some people believe in God, but have been turned off by empty, cold, religion. Others think there may be a God, and, in a private moment, will tell you that if He is out there they would like to know it, but they have not found answers to their questions. Some see the church as hopelessly boring, irrelevant and antiquated. Still others, who may even have a strong faith in God, wrestle with finding a church home where they can grow spiritually and at the same time feel comfortable enough to invite their curious but skeptical friends and family.As Pastor of LifePoint Church, I am thankful to be part of a church that welcomes people- no matter where they are on their spiritual journey. We are dedicated to being real about life and addressing the relevant life issues we all face. We believe that our church can be a place where you can have your questions answered, where you can take new steps on your spiritual journey, and where you can meet a real God who makes a real difference in our lives. We have no interest in making people more religious. Jesus didn'’t come to make us more religious either. Instead, we believe the church can and should be a place where people are genuinely loved, accepted for who they are, connected in meaningful relationships and invited to deeper faith.If you are currently attending a church where your spiritual needs are met, then that is wonderful. We are not interested in taking you away from your church home. God created everything out of nothing and by His sovereign power continues to sustain all things. By His providence He is operating throughout history to fulfill His redemptive purposes.ABOUT THE BIBLEWe believe that the Bible, composed of the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments, is entirely originated with God and that it was given through the instrumentality of chosen men. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, Scripture speaks, at the same time, with the authority of God while also reflecting the backgrounds, styles, and vocabulary of the human authors. The Scriptures are inspired by God, and are without error. This fall into sin has resulted in the corruption of the human nature and the need for saving grace. Salvation is the free gift of grace available to all people. It is not earned through a life of good works, religious involvement, or self-improvement. Only by trusting in Christ and personally appropriating this gift through faith can one find forgiveness from sin and eternal life. God wishes all to be saved and is grieved when people go against His will and reject Him. He has, however, sovereignly chosen to give every person a free will and will not force anyone to believe in Him or follow Him. When God has begun a saving work in a person’s heart, and as they follow the Scriptural admonitions to abide in Christ and persevere in their faith, God gives the assurance of His presence and power.ABOUT THE CHRISTIAN LIFEThe essential accompaniment of a genuine saving relationship with Jesus Christ is a life of holiness and obedience. The Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, indwells everyone who accepts Jesus Christ into their lives. We are then shaped by the Holy Spirit to live lives of growing godly character. This character development is a gradual process and will not be completed in this life, yet our consistent progress should be evident to those around us. The Holy Spirit shows us the areas of our lives that hinder our relationship with Him or with other people, and He gives the direction and power we need to move towards positive change in our lives. He helps us exchange hurtful habits for helpful habits and makes us more like Christ. The result of allowing God to shape our lives and develop within us a growing godly character is greater joy, freedom, peace, and fulfillment.ABOUT ETERNITYPeople were created to live forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. Death seals the eternal destiny of each person. After death there will be a resurrection of the body so that each person can stand before the judgment seat of Christ. Here the eternal destiny of each individual will be determined. Unbelievers will be separated from God. The Kitchen is our small group ministry environment. “Baptizing them (incorporating and welcoming people into the family of faith) and “make disciples” (those who would follow Jesus). * We believe that life change happens best in a small group Our groups are called LifeGroups * Life Groups focus on the application of Scripture to Life, prayer and the sharing of life together. The Garage This is the place in our house where we store our tools, share our lawn equipment etc. and often work side by side with our neighbors on various projects. Page 6 Frequently asked questionsHow do I get to LifePoint Church?LifePoint Church is located at 7733 Hillcrest Avenue, in Harrisburg PA 17112. Our meeting location is easily accessible from a number of key roads and highways. What time does your service start?Our service times are now 9:00 a.m and 10:45 a.m. each Sunday morning. Feel free to come early and grab a coffee. Do you have anything for children?Your children will love LifePoint. We provide a fun, interactive and high energy environment for the children each week. Our KidzLife ministry is for children ages kindergarten through 5th grade. In addition, we also provide a clean, safe, well staffed nursery for the younger children. Our facility has excellent space for kids. Your children will not be in a separate building from you, so it is just a short walk down the hallway to check on them any time you want. You are also welcome to stay with your child if you wish. What should I wear?At LifePoint you can come as you are. If you would like to dress up a little that’'s great. If you would rather wear jeans and come with casual clothes, that'’s great too. Our pastor and key leaders will probably wear jeans and more casual clothes most of the time. The bottom line is that we encourage people to dress comfortably.What kind of worship do you have at LifePoint?At LifePoint, we want you to leave each service refreshed, renewed and inspired to take new steps on your spiritual journey. We do this with a dynamic, contemporary, engaging style. Although we will do some contemporized hymns during the year, and especially at Christmas and Easter- these are the classics which many of us know- the bulk of our music will follow a similar style to what most of us listen to on CD’s and the radio. Somewhere in our service, you may even hear something from the Beatles or Styx from time to time. Our ultimate goal in worship is to draw near to God and declare His worth. Multimedia, lighting, drama and PowerPoint will also help us engage God in new ways.Do you have anything for youth? Yes! We have an exciting youth ministry called the Asylum! Led by Jonathan Edwards, the Asylum is a safe place for Youth to experience God in new and innovative ways. Many youth are finding great community and experiences in the Asylum.Will I have to stand up in front of people and say anything?Absolutely not. Most people will wear a name tag on Sunday mornings so we can get to know each other and you will be offered one too, but you are not obligated in any way to wear one. If you want to come late and slip into the back row just to check things out and make sure nothing is too strange, then feel free to do just that. We will not put you on the spot, single you out, call your name, ask you to pray or call you upfront to sing a solo. (Our pastor will tell his story sometime of how he and Denys were singled out years ago when they were checking out a church. Needless to say- they hated it- and you can be certain- that’'s not going to happen here.Will I be pressured to give money?Absolutely not. Each week we take an offering but you are under no obligation to give. In fact, if you are new to LifePoint, we will tell you that we don’'t want you to give. Our offering is for those who regularly attend and give out of love to support God’s work. We do not and will not pressure people to give. God says that we are to give with a joyful and willing heart and not out of compulsion (2 Corinthians 9:7). Our service is a gift we feel privileged to give to you.Do you have a denominational affiliation?LifePoint Church is affiliated with the Brethren in Christ Church. The BIC Church is a solid group of Christ followers who have faithfully served the Lord in the United States and around the world for 200 years. Since most BIC churches vary widely, however, it is our hope, that people will check us out for who we are rather than evaluate us based on a denominational label. In addition to our BIC affiliation, we also like to tell people that we are interdenominational. Our primary goal is to reach beyond denominational lines to people from all types of religious and non-religious backgrounds. We envision ourselves as a safe, relevant and accepting place for all who have a desire to know God better.

Page 7 LEAD PASTOR GLENN PFEIFFERGlenn and Denys were both born and raised in New Jersey. Although they only lived two miles apart, they did not meet each other until Glenn attended Denys’' graduation party from Villanova University... (you’'re right,… this involved party crashing- they’'ll tell you the story sometime if you want to hear more). Glenn and Denys were married in 1986 and have four children- Stephen, David, Austin and Kayleigh- two dogs- Cooper and Toby- and one cat named Alley. Glenn has been in pastoral ministry for 20 years including several years pastoring in Lititz, PA, and as the founding pastor of Crossroads Community Church north of Philadelphia. Glenn’'s formal education includes a bachelor’s degree from Messiah College and a master’s degree from Asbury Theological Seminary in Kentucky. Glenn also received a scholarship for the Beeson Doctoral Program and in 1999 earned his Doctorate in Leadership and Communication. As part of Glenn’'s doctoral studies he and Denys traveled across North America and beyond. One of the highlights of this program was the opportunity to visit local churches in South Korea, including the largest church in the world, the Yoido Full Gospel Church.Early in 2006, after much prayer, Glenn and Denys felt the Lord confirm a call to step out of their comfort zones and move their family to Harrisburg to start LifePoint Church. Since the launch of LifePoint, God has greatly blessed the church with great people and significant growth. Over 300 people worshipped with the LifePoint congregation this past Easter (2011) and there are currently plans underway to move towards two morning services. Glenn and Denys are grateful for the many great people and new friends God has brought into their lives as well as the exciting momentum and enormous potential of LifePoint Church.PASTOR OF STUDENT MINISTRIES AND OUTREACHJON EDWARDSJon (Jonathan) was born in Indianapolis and grew up in the Northern Virginia/DC area. He met his B-E-A-utiful wife, Katie, at Centreville High School. After proposing to her at his favorite pizza shop in Indiana, they were married at LifePoint and had their reception on roller skates at the Carlisle Sports Emporium. They featured a custom Cold Stone Creamery ice cream cake, and dinner from Katie and Jon's favorite restaraunt, Neato Burrito! Their family has increased since then with the adoption of their shepherd/doberman mix puppy named Disco Biscuit. Jon attended Messiah College and graduated with a degree in Ministry with a concentration in youth/adolescence. Aside from spending time with students and fellowshipping with friends, Jon enjoys customizing/restoring cars, eating hotwings, playing the drums, and finding deals- some even call him "The eBay Connoisseur".Jon has been very blessed with an amazing family, a great church community, and the free gift of salvation from Jesus. His goal is to fully experience the life and the purpose that God designed him for and help others do the same. WORSHIP LEADER AND ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANTJOHN ENGELJohn is a PA native, born and raised in Lebanon City, and currently living in Harrisburg. He has been involved in music since first grade, learning to play the piano, drums, and guitar by the time he graduated from high school. He has played in all kinds of bands with all sorts of styles, but his favorites are Jazz and Rock. John's formal education consists of a Bachelor's Degree in Communications from Penn State and a Master's Degree in Pastoral Leadership from Lancaster Bible College. He also has some musical education from Messiah College and has taken private music lessons in various instruments for nearly twenty years.During a period of visiting many area churches, John discovered and loved LifePoint. After seeing that no one was playing the beautiful grand piano on stage, he inquired as to why that might be. Before too long, he was regularly contributing the talents God gave him to the worship team. It was also at LifePoint that John met his amazing future wife Janelle. John's heart is to use music to lead people into a sincere worship of God, and to use his administrative gifts to help lead LifePoint into the great future God has for it.

LifePoint's many ministries are built around our core values and beliefs. We believe that a ministry is something that fills a need that people have, and we take such ministry seriously. Listed below are some of the ministries that take place at or through LifePoint ChurchFood PantryLifePoint currently houses a growing food pantry ministry that provides food to nearly 100 people on a monthly basis. We believe that the church is meant to not only provide for the spiritual needs of people, but the physical ones as well. Keystone CorrectionalWe all make mistakes in life. How we deal with the repercussions of these mistakes can very well define our lives. LifePoint church ministers at the Keystone Correctional facility on a regular basis because we believe that everyone is worthy of being part of a community; and that we can offer people a chance at a great life.Angel TreeEvery Christmas, LifePoint utilizes the Angel Tree program as a way to serve our community. Through this program, we provide gifts for children who would not otherwise get anything for Christmas. There is nothing quite like the smile of a child.

High School group - 6:15 to 8:00 PM _ LifePoint.We meet on Sunday nights to make friends, laugh, ask questions, worship, and grow in our relationships with Jesus. Our goal is to be "The Safe Place For All" so that no matter where you are on your spiritual journey you can feel welcome here. At the Asylum you can ask tough questions, you can be open and honest, you can laugh so hard that you cry, or you can cry so hard that you laugh. You can play dodgeball, you can play Uno, you can rock out on the Wii, or you can enjoy a soda with a friend. This is a place that is free, a place that is fun, and a place that is safe. KIDZLIFE

"Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it." -Proverbs 22:6Kidzlife is a ministry of LifePoint Church, and is committed to providing a safe place for children to grow, learn, meet other children, and begin a journey of faith. Through age-appropriate curriculum and a caring volunteer staff, children are free to discover truths from God's word, ask questions that cause them to wonder, and have a great time in the process. Meeting every Sunday morning during the Life Connection service, it is a great place for kids to lean and grow at their own pace and in a loving atmosphere. Drive to the first light and turn left onto Manor Drive and then make a quick right onto Hillcrest Avenue. LifePoint Church is ahead on the left just past the Fulton Bank.From points West (Colonial Road, North Mountain Road, Nyes Road, our former location at the Friendship Center)- take Route 22, Allentown Boulevard, East past Arooga's, Lezer Lumber and the Skyline Diner. The church is on the right hand side of Route 22 just before the Fulton Bank and the route 39 and 22 intersection.
